Atlanta, Georgia

From the Civil War, through the Civil Rights movement, to its current unofficial title of "Capital of the New South," Atlanta has grown into one of the largest and most influential cities in the United States. The culinary traditions of Atlanta are greatly informed by its location in the heart of the American southeast, as well as its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and its status as a destination for people relocating from Louisiana. Locals and visitors to Atlanta will have their choice of great barbeque, soul food, seafood, Cajun food, and Creole cuisine. Perhaps Atlanta's most notable contribution to the world of food and beverage came in 1886 when Dr. John S. Pemberton invented what has become the world's most popular soft drink, Coca-Cola.

About me:
I am at the cusp of my quarter life crisis, and loving every minute of it! I live in Atlanta with two roommates and two cats. I went to college for English and Writing, and work as the marketing coordinator for the Atlanta office of a national, commercial real estate firm. I never enjoyed cooking while growing up but now it is becoming one of my favorite pastimes!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed on Aug. 18, 2008 by superfoodie
These beat the store bought canned kind, any day! All I had was a red pepper, so I used that. Lightly buttered and broiled fresh deli buns. My family raved. Even my husband who is a sloppy joe hater, thought these were great. It's nice too that you usually have all the ingredients alredy. Kudos

Three Bean Soup

Reviewed on Aug. 18, 2008 by A. H. Miller
We increased the ingredients to serve 60 at a church meal and made it spicy! Worked wonderfully for us: simple, nutritious and satisfying. I give it only 4 stars because recipe did not call for spices (chili powder and cumin), which really made it delicious. Could easily be made vegetarian by substituting vegetable stock. Very well received.

Sesame Noodles

I used peanut oil instead of safflower and decreased the amount of vinegar. This was great! Very flexible recipe!
