This is a simple recipe for authentic brick-oven pizza made famous by several, well-known Brooklyn pizzerias. Best accompanied by ice-cold pilsner-style lager beer.

Family Sicilian Sauce and Meatballs

Submitted by: Peter Gerry
My Mother's family originally came from Sicily and every family member makes his or her own version - this version came most recently via Brooklyn. Use your favorite meat and Italian red wine for this sauce and serve with your favorite pasta. This also is a great pizza sauce if you leave out about half of the meat. If there are any leftovers, they freeze very well. MANGIA!

After searching high and low for a soupy escarole and beans recipe, I finally created my own version. It tastes just like the appetizer I order at one of my favorite Italian restaurants in New York.

An easy roast beef sandwich with local origins in Buffalo, New York. Kimmelweck rolls are hard kaiser-type rolls covered in coarse ground salt and caraway seeds. This recipe transforms regular rolls into the traditional weck rolls.

There 's just three easy steps to make this rich, creamy pie. First make the graham cracker crust. Then whip up the very creamy, cream cheese filling, and bake. And finally, frost with a sweetened sour cream topping.

Chicken breasts are coated in a pecan breading, and fried in a skillet. Then a rich bourbon sauce is poured over them before serving. This is a fabulous recipe that my Mother gave me from a upscale restaurant in New York. It is to die for. ENJOY!!

A delightful childhood memory of buying cookies after school for a penny a piece is what I envision when someone says Dad's Cookies. They were baked on Winters Lane in Catonsville, Md. during my childhood days and then on Pratt St. in Baltimore before being bought by a New York company.

A delicious smooth cheesecake served with or without a fruit topping. I like to make this cheesecake a day or so before I wish to serve it. It always seems to taste better with the extra setting time.

This New York Cheesecake rivals the best! It uses amaretto instead of lemon flavor and is VERY rich, and has no crust to compete with it's decadent flavor. Serves 16 lucky people. Serve with fresh sliced fruit or berries and fresh whipped cream.

Syracuse Salt Potatoes

Submitted by: kaspmary
An utterly simple and delicious way to celebrate the season's first new potatoes. Invented in the 1800s by Irish salt mine workers in central New York State, tender potatoes are boiled in intensely salted water, then served hot with melted butter.

Sarah Contona's Sweet Potato Pie

Melted marshmallows top a creamy sweet potato filling in a sweet graham cracker crust. This pie can be prepared the night before the dinner without the marshmallows. Reheat the pie and melt the marshmallows on top just before serving!
